Hastings Insurance, the title sponsor of MacHale Park in Castlebar have this week presented 4 dozen sliotars to each hurling and camogie club in Mayo. The gift is in recognition for the outstanding voluntary work that is being done to promote hurling and camogie in the county at present and in particular to acknowledge the recent All-Ireland success of the Mayo U15 hurlers and the Mayo U16 camogie team.
Speaking at the press event at Hasting Insurance MacHale Park, Mayo GAA Chairman Seamus Tuohy said, “I would like to thank Hastings Insurance for their support and kind sponsorship of Sliotars to all Hurling and Camogie clubs in Mayo.
Also speaking at a press event at Hastings Insurance MacHale Park, Mayo GAA Hurling secretary Sean Ó Raghallaigh said it was a phenomenal gesture from Hastings Insurance. “On behalf of all the hurling and camogie clubs in the county, I want to thank Hastings Insurance for their generosity and for their ongoing support for all that is being done to promote hurling and camogie in Mayo. The cost of sliotars is a significant expense that our clubs incur each year and this kind gesture from Hastings Insurance is so appreciated. These sliotars will be used at underage training sessions across the county inspiring the next generation of hurlers and camogie players,” commented O’Reilly.
Hastings Insurance secured the naming rights for MacHale Park in 2021 and continue to invest and support clubs right across the region. In total, 9 hurling clubs, Westport, Castlebar, Ballyvary, Ballina, Caiseal Gaels, Claremorris, Moytura, Ballyhaunis and Tooreen will benefit from this new initiative. The four Mayo camogie clubs of Castlebar, Claremorris, Westport and Na Bridoga will also receive sliotars from Hastings Insurance.
